Default deleting all automation including plugins in a session

It there a short cut to delete all automation (including all the automation written to all the plugins) from a PT session? Highlighting all tracks and doing Control+Delete removes just the volume and pan but I want to delete absolutely all automation especially the plugins.

edit/automation/clear all
you've still got the uncertainty of virgin territory so it can be hard to tell where that will leave all the various parameters.
we need to sacrifice the virgin.

Locate to the top of the session. Put all faders in "Write". Option + select Write. Roll the transport and press / click "To End".

Control-Delete deletes *all* automation including plug-in automation on every rig I've ever been on.

best,
rich

I highlight the area I want to clear, or entire session, and do Command/Control-B. If you are looking at the waveform view, then the clips will also be deleted, but if you are looking at any automation view, then all the automation will be deleted, but the clips will be left as-is.

I will try this, it sounds like it would work, thanks.

I think a clear all automation is worthy of a menu command. And it should include ALL automation. and re-zero everything, not just take it to the first existing breakpoint...

I'm afraid I don't understand what the issue is; There *is* a Clear All Automation menu command: Edit->"Clear Special"->"All Automation". There's also a keyboard shortcut for it: ctrl-delete. I must do this five times a day in turning a finished song mix into a template for the next piece, and it works just fine.

If you need to first set all parameters to some nominal value, suspend automation, set nominal values, then select a range across tracks and option-command-"/" to write to all enabled, then select across the breakpoints just created and ctrl-delete to get rid of the breakpoints. Takes me about 15 seconds.

Confused,
rich

15 seconds?
you session must look very different to mine.

clear all auto is fine but like I said - who know what values will be left over after doing this.
we do need a way to "zero" all params.

I just place the cursor at a point in the session where all parameters are what I want to call my 'nominal' starting point, then suspend automation, then select range, write to all, then remove breakpoints with ctrl-delete. And yes, takes me about 15 seconds on large 150-track mixes (though of course, size of the session doesn't really matter).

best,
rich
