The big question is................................................ ..is it worth the $60,000 that's it's said to cost? I'm still having a hard time dumping money into a "Controller" All sound is being bussed through Pro-Tools correct, All eq's, compressors are just being controlled through a $60,000 controller......I'll wait and see but it seems to me that alot studio's will hold on to their analog consoles...SSL, Neve...Just my opinion

For $60k, you can get an SSL. Where would you rather mix? A studio with PT HD and an ICON or one with PT HD and an SSL? The answer is obvious.

$60k for something that doesn't impart any specialness to the sound of your recordings. Is P.T. Barnum the CEO of Digidesign? What is the recording industry coming to?

I'd have a hard time justifying that, but other people march to different drummers.

I'd also be quite amazed if the configuration pictured on Digidesign's home page was $60k. $60k is probably the starter model. You could get close to $60k with an expansion chassis filled with Accel cards plus a number of 192's, computer, drives, plug-ins, etc. with NO control surface. I'd bet that larger configurations will be well into six figures before all is said and done. Ironically, in this day and age, a talented producer/engineer might be able to sonically top mixes made on this device using equipment that you could buy for what it would cost to ship this monster.
