Default Sustain Weirdness

Hello!

I'm on V 11.3.1, using an A-800 Pro controller by Roland.

I'm recording a piano track and, sometimes i don't hear the sustain while I'm recording, but it plays back perfectly.

Any ideas?

Thanx!

I see you're running Yosemite. I once had a third boot partition that had that with the other two being OSX 10.8.5 and OSX 10.9.5. Yosemite was too squirrelly for production use for me (sustain was just one issue) so I dumped that partition and do my work in OSX 10.9.5.

If you are having sustain pedal problems while "MIDI Merge" is selected, it could be a bug described here; http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=364025

Thanx for the response!

Sorry, I'm on OS X 10.11.6 Yosemite. I don't know if that makes a difference.

I know... I use to push my pedal through the studio floor trying to get it to work... anyway, if you don't need MIDI Merge on, then it seems to work fine....

Actually OSX 10.11.6 is ElCrapitan; Yosemite is OSX 10.10.x. EC is probably why you're having issues as PT11 is not and will never be made compatible with EC.

Yes; you're right, 10.11.6 is not Yosemite.

"El Crapitan" ROFL

It's for that type of reason, that I haven't moved to Sierra as yet.

Is anyone running PT 11 on Sierra?

If they are they're not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Going one OSX version higher isn't going to fix or help anything. Sorry but PT11 tops out at Yosemite at least for official support. Even if you could get PT11 installed and running you're going to have so many issues it wouldn't be good for production work.

As to the ElCrapitan I'm not responsible for that; seen it far too often here and over on GS from other posters.
