Default JF you really should read things in context

JF I was trying to be helpful to Jeffro and Anthony, but Jeffro closed the thread that Anthony started "while he goes away and checks".

Please feel free to read what I posted to the theead I closed. It is agains forum rules to start multiple threads on same subject.

Now you have one that has EDU question and Anthony has one that has EDU question (closed during investigation), and you start another thread (closed) with EDU question and now you started yet another one.

Do you see the problem here?

Yes JF I see the problem ...

If Jeffro hadn't closed the thread I'd have been able to write my helpful comment in that thread.

And you as a mod could have simply PASTED my comments (in the thread I had to start to make a comment) into the thread that Jeffro closed. That would have been helpful.

From my point of view, this is all about the EDU issue and Avid has said they are investigating it and further EDU threads are counter-productive.

Submit 100x threads get AN ANSWER in 100^2 time

So I'm actually doing you a favor here.

Just keep calm and carry on. Once they're ready to publish their answer they will.

FWIW, thread merges are not for regular moderators. It is Avid people who do this.

That's the point, we already have the answer.

There is no need for Jeffro to investigate, except in relation to Anthony having apparently/allegedly been given incorrect information. I also remember reading complaints in the DUC when Pro Tools 11 came out about people being told that 11 was a new product not an upgrade, at that tme because it was a new 64bit app. It was a red herring then just as it is a red herring now.

Again, I was trying to be helpful.

PS I couldn't respond directly to Jeffro because a) he closed the thread, and b) he doesn't allow PMs (at least from ordinary folks like me), so starting another thread or ignoring it when I knew the answer were the only options open to me.

Avid has said they're investigating this and thus closed a thread, so we will just have to wait. Period. It's not me.

Thanks for wanting to assist. I wasn't going away to check the policy, I wanted to talk with the rep that handled the case so that I could come back here with an explanation of what happened before the discussion continued.

Thanks for the input Jeffro.

My concern was that with so many real issues kicking around at the moment, the last thing anyone needs (Avid or the users) is another spurious tale gathering momentum unnecessarily, when the policy is clearly stated on this particular aspect as regards to students.

Seeing as you are taking an interest in student related queries, could you please have a look at these two threads I started on different issues relating to students.

A definitive answer from Avid in those threads (to keep the answers where they belong) would be much appreciated. I don't think any of the issues raised would be matters similar to the 'coming soon' HD policies. They are all questions for which a clear answer should be possible now.

TIA Jeffro, hope you can help.

PS Jeffro, maybe you could merge the relevant elements of this thread into the one that Anthony started, which is where I would have put my first post if it hadn't been closed. I also have no objection if you remove the swordplay between JFreak and myself when doing that. I'm pretty sure JF wouldn't mind either, it'd be a shame to burden the genuine thread with that baggage.

Swordplay removed from my part. I believe you could edit yours by yourself.

And truly, sorry about that.
