You could also do this.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...5E24FSVDA517WE

This will work for a 5870 and dual 5770. Then you have a free connector for HDX. Or am I just crazy?

Well I'm back after giving the HDN a try.
All in all another $910 and HDX Omni (HD3a 192 trade Vs. HDN-Omni D-24 trade).

The latency is an issue even for voice dubbing.
Continual buffer adjustments also a big change from TDM
Errors when do things in the background stops the HDN system in small sessions.

I'm now hopping the HDX will prove more solid.

No Rentals in Detroit......
The saga begins again.

trombino ?
How is the 5770 going from the 5870?

I now found an opportunity to switch instead of Y-power adaptor.

For me it's been great. I haven't tried gaming or video editing on my rig, but it handles Pro Tools and dual 1900x1200 monitors with ease.

Also, HDX + PT10 installed super easy and has runs flawlessly. I'm a happy (but still a little resentful that I had to downgrade) camper.

Thank you Mark.
Not a gamer here but use 3 monitors 19"-27"-19"
THE HDN didn't feel right and am awaiting the HDX to arrive M or Tu.
I'll take the downgrade for safer power commitment.

Latency while tracking? And you were using the protools "Native" pcie card? Were you tracking through plugins on the audio tracks?

Latency while tracking? Yes, slight but more than TDM.
And you were using the protools "Native" pcie card? Yes HD10.2 firmware updated.
Were you tracking through plugins on the audio tracks? No

Basically as the session grew so did the buffer size-needs (12-20 overdubs) at a time.
We just ended up not chasing the delay-optomization and cracked the headphones off one ear and got the job done.
Musicians:
Singers and a little percussion at the end of the session.

PT's HD10.2, HDN, MOTU 896 (Core audio)
MP-5,1 Dual 6 core, 12Gb, OS 10.7.4

Wow, thats a drag. If you disabled automatic delay comp on your record tracks did that not solve the latency problem?
