Default PAL audio deliverables?

Hi All-
A film I worked on last year has gotten some distribution in Europe. The director forwarded
the deliverables list to me, and the following was contained therein:

Delivery of One (1) NTSC and One (1) PAL DVD of the 5.1+2
M&E (Suggested channel configuration: Left / Right / Center /
Subwoofer / Left Surround / Right Surround / Left / Right)

Delivery of One (1) NTSC and One (1) PAL DVD of the 5.1
PrintMaster + Stereo Dialogue (Suggested channel configuration:
Left / Right / Center / Subwoofer / Left Surround / Right Surround /
Left Dial / Right Dial)

Delivery of One (1) NTSC and One (1) PAL DVD of the Stereo
Mix (Suggested channel configuration: Left Mix / Right Mix / Left
Dialogue / Right Dialogue / Left Music / Right Music / Left Effects /
Right Effects)

Channel configurations aside - given that there is no PAL edit of the film at the moment -
would anyone be interested in taking a moment to speculate on what the shortest path to
a "PAL DVD of the...." might be? I am assuming tha a new edit will be generated somehow, and that
I would then somehow conform to it and output.....
Anyway, any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

This really depends on how the PAL master is derived from the master. Is the master Film or is it the NTSC video? If the film is the master and a frame for frame transfer in done this will be a speed change of the audio of 4%, but a format conversion of a NTSC master to PAL is different. You have to ask how the conversion is done to ascertain how to manipulate the audio.

Thanks, Simon. The NTSC video is the master. Most important to me is that there must be a method in place for deriving PAL picture before I must devise an appropriate audio output.

Are you expected to create the video conversion? That is a pretty specialist task. Sure a DVD conversion can be done using various video tools in many apps but results would vary considerably. I would refer this to a video house then do the audio.
hope this helps

I will ask the director to handle the picture conversion, and then I'll do the audio work.
