PT11 will launch on Mac OS X Lion v10.7. That combination is not officially supported by AVID.

My initial understanding was that it wouldn't run at all under Lion., not just 'not supported'.

It's cool for me either way, but it would give a lot of hope to guys unable to buy a new Comp right now that wanted the software.

Certainly good news for me, as a 1,1 owner in Europe where it's not possible to buy a (non-used) Mac Pro until Apple releases the new model "later this year".

You will have to call Apple and ask them to let you do this.

Pro Tools 11 runs well on my Mac Pro 2,1 with OS X Lion 10.7.5 and the 11 Rack as interface.

BUT!!!

So far I have NOT been able to get my HD Native card plus OMNI interface to work. The HD 11 drivers just don't work under Lion.

Big Bummer!

EDIT: and I also can't get it to work with the HD 10 drivers.

FWIW: PT 11 runs way better than 10 did on my Core2Duo machine from 2009. Not qualified, but works great.

While I don't have all if my plugs-ins available in PT11 to know for sure, I tend to agree. Hopefully I'll be able to know more soon.

I don't see anywhere in the Apple Store to download OS X Lion. Does anyone know where I can find a link to purchase OS X Lion?
I think I initially got it by using iTunes to access stuff, but it's been awhile. Have you tried clicking on the apple then Check For Updates?
