Thanks for the recommendations. Ended up getting Native Instruments' Scarbee Pre-Bass. Sounds pretty good. Definitely good enough for the demos I'm doing.

In addition to Trilian I can reccomend Ministry of Rock.
They have some awsome hardrock basses. In my opinion right out of the box better bass sounds than Trilian.

My favorite bass sound from any VI I'v tried is the Musicman patch from Ministry of Rock.

hahahha... that is the problem, and the common misconception. It is easy to "play"... so then why, after 20 years in the LA studios... Bass was the most "fixed" (bring in someone else to play the part) instrument. But I did not mind.. SB

What are you talking about? All you do with the Bass is play the root note when the kick drum is struck, and if you're better looking than the singer you hide in the shadows - that's all there is to it.

I have Ministry of Rock and yes, it does have its uses.
