Default CPU spikes after installing under a new Windows user ID

I was just force to create a new Windows user ID and installed Pro Tools 2018 under that new user. If I sign into the original user ID and run PT, everything is fine. If I sign into the new user ID, PT doesn't work. I get CPU spikes on all processors up to 100%. So all you hear is noise (click, pops, etc). So my system is totally unusable now. Has anyone ever installed PT under a new Windows user ID? Is there a step I'm missing other than simply uninstalling PT and then installing it under the new user ID? I'm dead in the water now. I called PT support and they created a ticket for this case mid-day on Saturday. Haven't heard a word from anyone since. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Did you run the installer as administrator? Are you running Pro Tools as administrator? You should do both

In addition to what's suggested above have you tried deleting the Pro Tools preferences?

Thanks for the tip. I actually had already tried that. Turns out I finally got someone at Avid to find and fix the problem. I had a bad outing in my I/O settings. Live and learn!
Thanks!
