Power down, disconnect 003R, connect LS56 FW, power up and start mixcontrol, save changes to hardware, power down, disconnect LS56.

I haven't tried keeping the LS56 connected with the 003R which would make it easier, not sure how that might work. It might be fine but I don't want to cause an inadvertant issues. Even though the LS56 would only be communicating via FW when mixcontrol is open it may cause some conflict with the 003R being on the same express 34 card. I was also concerned about potential grounding issues. Audio from the LS56 wouldn't be affected as it's running via ADAT.

Honestly though I haven't needeed to change that much, I set it for the current project and leave it. Might be a good question to float past support. Maybe I'll be a gunea pig this weekend if I can carve some time out.

I don't blame you for not wanting to cause yourself any issues. I was more curious if you tried to get it going together in the first place and maybe had it working in tandum. I would probably be fine doing the same thing because I would only really be focusing on one thing at a time for tracking vocals or instruments, so it wouldn't be much of a pain if I had a favorite emulation or 2.

The deeper I dig to put my studio together, the more options I find that I want to make sure everything would "play well with others". The LS 56 is definitely on my list if not right away, in the very near future. I just have to figure out my control surface dilemma, which now I'm looking at the Axiom midi keyboard control as an option as opposed to the 003 or the ProjectMix I/O.

I love there is so many options, but also hate it as well!

Hey judicious, you live in Winnipeg? If so, come by my studio and I'll show you what I use and if it's something that'll be suitable for your needs.

I'm actually just outside Winnipeg to the north out in Balmoral. That would be cool man. Send me an email and we should maybe set something up. Your studio is down on Albert street I'm guessing? I like the track on the website, something you had a hand in?

I think I am going down to Long & McQuade tomorrow to go check on a few things and try and price out some stuff. Definitely going to be checking out the LS 56, I think it's at the top of my list now.

Very interesting - and great! I inquired from someone at MOTU a few months back about a 32 sample buffer, and he said it was up to the software engineer writing the driver as to how low the sample amount can go. I don't know if that's the same with all hardware (and the hardware companies) or not.

Anyone else get there's down to 32 samples on 9.0.3?

I bought one of these units today, I'll post some feedback once I have had time to have a decent play with it.

So far I like it. It took me a little while to get my head around the routing options...but it's not too bad. I like having the MixControl to control volumes and mix outputs etc, very useful

Did have a little freakout when I kept getting some errors regarding clock settings and having to quit and restart Pro Tools...but after some reading around I found out the easiest way to overcome this it to open the MixControl BEFORE opening PT, set the sample rate to the rate of the session you're about to open and THEN open PT...you'll have to close down PT and repeat the process if you want to open up a session with a different sample rate, but it's no big deal. Other than that it seems like a pretty good unit for a grand. Looking forward to having a play with those Liquid Pre's when I'm back on my next break from work. Either way, it's a fairly big step up from my old mbox2 pro...

I got one ordered and should be in next week. I am hoping I can get the LS56 and my ProjectMix I/O to play nicely. I basically am going to try and just use the PMIO as a control surface and use the LS56 as my audio interface and pre amp.

I have had a few problems with pops and cracks just using the PMIO, but I will find out when I get the LS56 if it's something in my setup or just the PMIO. It doesn't want to let me record to my external HD in a daisy chain with it, so I'm hoping the LS56 is my savior.

Here's hoping!
