Default Drum Overheads What is your Favorite

Right now i am using a Pair of Earthworks TC20's and i like them alright but at times the omnidirectional i am not so certain if i like it for all the Varieties of style of music that i record. would like something Multi Patern but all opinions are welcomed

Also Large or Small Diaphram?

I record everything from religous acoustic Bluegrass all types of rock and Metal my recording is very diverse

Would like something that i can that would be good for acoustic guitar and maybe some other acoustic stuff

right now i dont have a lot of Expensive mics. mostly cheap mics that i went through and picked out that i thought id get some good results with.

been trying to upgrade my preamps and get some good channels

As far as Preamps i have

Presonus ADL 600

Focusrite ISA 428's

Brent Averill 312A's

SSL Alpha Logic 'S

Thanks In Advance

Russell

I would think that a pair of km184s would do nicely as overheads and also function well as mics for acoustic instruments like guitars, etc.

Agreed (use 'em all the time, and yeah, they're sweet on ac. guitar). A nice multi-pattern mic is the AKG C414. A pair of these is next on my list.

A pair of C12's, 414EB's, u67's, Coles, ... depends on the track and the room really - for new mics... check out the Violet mics.

Yeah the Coles 4038s are AMAZING on drums. I usually use them as stereo kit mics from BEHIND the drummer, and augment with the km184s above. THos two pairs get you most of the way there without anything else. Sure I'll spot the snare and kick, but there's no need for toms spots with that setup.
