Don't hold your breath waiting for apologies.

So, is 12 really just 11 with a new splash screen and menu items linking to the new services?

That's what it looks like.

I told you so!!

I do not understand why moderators are unable to distinguish between real information and hoax and so they deleted my leaked information I got from inside of avid!

So, I would recommend to nail down avid and get an official statement if Protools12 would be a free upgrade or if avid specifies it as a new product!
Whole number PT versions have always been a pay-for so yes - essentially this is a new product.

Probably only for a short time. They are supposed to be releasing incremental upgrades that add a new feature every so often.

Hahah ahah ahahaha haaaaaaa.....

Can we say "hook, line, and sinker"?

Avid's definition of "every so often" is probably between 12-months-plus-one-day to one-day-less-than-24-months.

They can't even communicate what their full intentions are with the new licensing regime after FOUR MONTHS! How do you expect them to suddenly get their R&D act together and alwaysy be releasing some new feature that would have previously been a paid upgrade?

They have NO track record when it comes to regular updates, upgrades, new feature releases, NOR do they seem to posses the adult communication skills necessary to inform their customer base of what is actually happening.

That's a recipe for disaster for sure. Add a new feature and all it's concommitant bugs and incompatibilities with user's systems. The support people will really be earning their pay with this happening. I don't buy software on a promise of things to come; I buy it for what it does NOW. All the PT12 pages says for most everything is coming soon. Soon as in this year or soon as in Slate soon?

And THAT is exactly why this new licensing scheme, including the support plan is a SUBSCRIPTION.

ok, now it should be clear, my avid whistleblower is a reliable source, the post of the pt12 source code snippets was real also the story about the recoding of the new auth system.
and to listen to all the stories about struggles inside at avid, non-consistent and chaotic work seems to be true as well, that is really very disappointing,...
instead of focusing to the product, make it stable, it seems they are adding feature just to pretty up it a bit for marketing. If they're unable to manage it they should sell ProTools (like they did with m-audio) but to a company that cares about it and respects the customers.

I hope it will again get "the daw" as it was long time ago, but I guess this will not happen under the avid flag.

Nobody is asking you to. When they finally come out with some new features that you would find useful, that's the time to buy into a support contract so the clock doesn't start running any earlier than necessary. If 11 gets the job done for you at the end of the year, stay on it. Plenty of people are still making hit records using Pro Tools 7! Why all the drama?

Unless that happens to be after December 31, 2015. Then you get to buy a whole new copy of Protools for $899 or whatever they are going to charge their HD users.
