How to open version 5 sessions in Protools 7.1.1 ????
Just bought a new Macbook and a Digi 002 system with version 7.1.1 software but I can't open any of the older version 5 sessions I made several years ago with a Digi 001 OS9 system. I don't have the old system so using it is not an option. When I click on the ver. 5 session file icon it says "this is not a valid Protools session file" I've read the the new protools is backwards compatible but can't figure out what's wrong. |

Re: How to open version 5 sessions in Protools 7.1.1 ????
I have a similar problem when trying to open old graphics files (.psd, .eps, .ai, .qxd) in OSX, with no extention in the name that were made in OS9. What works for me sometimes, is putting the extention of the file type you think it is. So since it is a Pro Tools file, try putting .ptf at the end of the name and see if that works. You may also need to rename all the audio files with .sd2 or .wav.
There's an app called A Better Finder, which can batch rename, and get rid of weird charaters. http://publicspace.net/ABetterFinder.../download.html |
