Default Mbox with MIDI from another soundcard?

Hi everyone! I'm just wondering, since the "old" mbox doesn't have a midi interface, is it possible for me to use my old soundcards midi I/O ? it's an M-Audio audiophile 2496.

Yes, it is possible, but why not just get PT MPowered, which works with the 2496?

I've been wondering this as well - I can either pay £205 for Pro Tools M-Powered for my 24/96 card or pay £259.00 and get an M-Box/PT LE. I was wondering whether it was worth the hassle of trying to use the M-Box in conjunction with the 24/96 to get the extra inputs in the 'puter.
Any thoughts?

MBox = 2 inputs/ouputs period. It cannot be used in conjuction with the 2496 to get more audio ins and outs, it will only make use of the 2496 MIDI I/O.

2496 = 4 inputs/outputs + midi.

In my mind a no brainer, getting just the MPowered software if you own the 2496 is the better deal.

There are only 4 reasons why you would go with the mbox instead, and they are listed on the software comparison page.

Cheers, nice and concise answer. M-Powered it is.
