Default DIGI...OUR #1 REQUEST IS DELAY COMPENSATION. READ!

OK...PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Digidesign engineers, read this thread and inform us. Here's my version...

First off, thanks for 6.x. Many of us here are well aware of the effort you've had to put into porting over to OS X, and we are extremely excited to see it nearing completion. THANKS FOR THAT!

I believe that the #1 request of professional ProTools users is Automatic Delay Compensation. If I may, let me explain why this is very important to many of us in the music industry.

As you know, Solid State Logic, unquestionably the most successful analog console manufacturer over the last 15 years, put out a digital console (the MT) roughly 5 years ago. It has met with next to no success...and the #1 reason is no automatic-delay compensation. Engineers are simply TOO used to sending a signal to an outboard piece of gear or bussing a signal to another fader (for any number of reasons) and having that signal return to the console with its phase 100% intact. We do this OVER AND OVER AGAIN during EVERY SESSION of EVERY DAY. It is terribly disruptive to our work flow to have to STOP PLAYBACK every time we want to send our signal through a plug-in, bus or extra fader, etc, figure out the delay and then compensate perhaps many regions.

Please Digi, if you really want to encourage PROFESSIONAL USERS to start mixing directly within ProTools, you MUST institute this or risk facing the same fate that Solid State Logic has with their digital console. SSL is back to promoting the 9000K, their latest ANALOG console, because engineers are NOT willing to work without this. However, in SSL's case, the audio used on those sessions is not within the SSL, as it is in ProTools...PLEASE, Digi, you can do this!

Thanks for listening. Thanks again for 6.x. We can't wait!

Seconds to that...........

If ya can't do it in the software automatically, how about something similar to beat detective lines that it auto nudges up to.

bump

i agree its probably a DAE issue - in which case i wish they'd fix it so we wouldn't have this in logic OR PT!

at least an answer would be nice.
