Mastering software?
I'm looking to purchase mastering software for a pc. Anything I have come across on the web (like Wave Bundles) is mega bucks. Considering I spent under $1000 for my Digi 001 set-up ... I was hoping to find mastering software for under $500.
Is this possible? Seems overkill to spend that kind of serious money on mastering when the actual recording software didn't cost that much. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

Re: Mastering software?
I think Waves makes absolutely wonderful stuff.
However, I somehow prefer the sound of T-Racks, at least for the type of music I do, it works wonders. Thing is, you really have to tweak those knobs and massage the tracks, but you'll know you've hit the sweet spot when you hear it. I love T-Racks.

Hey
I have been using this izotope on one of our production PCs and Im really likeing it. If you have Sound Forge or Wavelab you can run it. Its a total mastering plug.

Thanks for the input all!
I was surprised not more users gave their opinion on this topic. Don't most "at home recording musicians" master their own work? Once again, thank you. |

Re: Mastering software?
Hi TonyT,
I use ProTools 5.3/WinXP Pro with a TC Electronics 96k (and various ProTools Plugins) for the mastering stage of my music. Then WaveLAB 3.0 w/Peak Master plugin for album layout (song order, space between songs, and the actual burning of the glass master).

Re: Mastering software?
...might need to mention this:
The TC Electronics 96k is a rack mount "outboard" mastering box. I have it looped thru the DIGI001 breakout box via SPDIF I/O. The latency incurred doesn't matter at this stage because all of the audio tracks are output/routed to an "aux" that has the Finalizer externally inserted. Then ONLY the Finalizer "aux channel" is output/routed to the Stereo Master Fader for bouncing to disk. On the Master Fader I insert the Dither Plug. Didn't mean to confuse anyone with my prior post into thinking the Finalizer was a PlugIn
