Default video editing in PT 12.4 HD

Not bad - playlists and video & audio editing in groups etc, then bounce to QT. May have all been the same in 11HD, but have only just had a closer look at this in shooting, editing, assembling my own films. In the past, have done the runaround with a NLE and sending back & forth to DAW for music & plugs etc. HD is 'almost' standalone as a basic video app & considerably different to vanilla in this respect.

Any one have any experience with this? Seem to be quite cool in that multiple video tracks generally mirror the audio editing features ... except, no crossfade. This would be great to add, if even in a very basic way, say: fade goes to or from black; crossfade does just that with vid.

The best .mp4 h264 video encoder is the Sony XAVC S at 100Mbps...
I would never trade Sony Vegas for any other.

I have not tested, but I read somewhere in MediaComposer that PTHD12 does not support 4K UltraHD files.

Maybe will test tomorrow.
But anyway PT does not support OFX.

The method i do, is to convert 4K to FHD compatible with PTHD, very complex with Handbrake, and then edit audio in PT.
Then import the audio back to Vegas.

Out of curiosity, can it be synced accurately with Pro Tools?

2-computers? One PT, other Vegas?
To sync PT or any other software to an external device, the old fashion way is to sync/lock Wordclock, MidiTimeCode, MidiMachineControl & LTC "SMPTE".

But that requires to buy $$ more hardware.

PTHD does not have SMPTE / LTC plugin generator like Nuendo...
I don't have LTC to WC Bnc converter, like Rosendahl HD.
Don't want to buy SyncHD.
Working with 4K UHD is complex.

I tried to use Midi over Lan when I had PTHD9.0.6, to sync MTC & MMC, but didn't worked... Maybe will try again with PTHD12.3
MIDI over USB and Windows7 has too much jitter, latency, deviation...

Bouncing files at constant frame rate is easier. 23.976fps NTSC,

Apologies for not being clear on that point. Vegas sync'd to PT so you can host the video in Vegas, and do your audio in PT.

Try giving the rtpMIDI network driver by Tobias Erichsen a try. I use his loopMIDI app and dropped everything else I used in the past.
