Logic not working with DAE

Here is a comprehensive description of my problem.

Setup:
1. Mix core, 2 mix farm and 2 samplecell tdm cards in 7-slot expansion chassis.
2. Digidesign 882 and 1622 interfaces (connected to the core and farm in any order, it makes no difference to the problem)
3. Software: MacOS 9.1, Protools 5.1.1, LAMP 4.8.1

PT works perfect.

LAMP with digidesign hardware (DAE mode) does not work. Precisely:

1. audiotracks in LAM will register sound on the meters in LAMP's trackmixer but no sound is output from the 882 (or 1622 whichever is on the core card).

2. midi tracks in LAMP will register in the trackmixer, the midi gets to the synths and the synths output sound (can be seen from the leds on the 1622) but no sound is output.

3. the only time LAMP will produce any sound at all is when opening an audio sequence in the sample editor, there choosing a plugin from the audiosuite menu and then previewing. Sound is then output regardless of the setting in the Sound Control panel, either built-in or digidesign.

It seems to me that there is a problem of LAMP getting control of the DAE but I fail to understand what is causing this and I fail to find a solution.

My guess is that you are using the dithered mixer, which doesn't work in Logic AFAIK (certainly not up to DAE 5.1) Either use the unditherd one, or e-mail me for a more elegant solution (assuming this is the problem)

Another possibility (bug in Logic):
assign enough RAM to Logic so that less than 1GB is free for the system.

Trash your Logic & DigiSetup Preferences, restart your computer, re-launch Logic.

You should do a search on this forum to find out how to spot the dithered mixer - unfortunately it doesn't say anything as useful as"dithered mixer" on it, or even in the file info box. I can't remember offhand.
Another thing to know is that as of Logic 5.1.3, the dithered mixer does indeed work
