Default Brainworx DSP?

Does anyone know if Brainworx plans to port their recent AAX Native plugs to DSP? They just sent me an offer for bx-XL and I would take the offer if i knew it would be a free upgrade to DSP. Otherwise I got enough on Mastering Limiters in my Waves folder.

Hey Cliffy,

From what I understand between the correspondence between Drik from PA and myself the pricing structure for AAX-DSP has not yet been finalized. This is what I got: "Pricing: we are not sure about the pricing as it really will depend on the amount of work we will have to put into this.
It will not be like in the old TDM days, where TDM was a x2 price. That´s for sure.
". From this I doubt that the AAX-DSP upgrade will be free of charge. I may be wrong, though as really nothing is certain. I got this e-mail a while back actually and PA are now much closer to releasing AAX-DSP plug-ins than then. It might be worth while sending Dirk another e-mail and ask the question again. He is a really nice guy and replies to most e-mails...so it's worth a shot.

Regards,
Tomaz

Thanks Tomaz. In these DSP starved days, I don't want or need to add to my Native collection.

Do you have a link to Dirk?

Ditto I got the impression about 5 months ago from Dirk and they do seem to be really great people at Plug In Alliance, that DSP was definitely on the road map.

As you point out in these DSP starved days we need more DSP PI's not Native.

Amp sims are very thin on the ground and we really need these in DSP format. I'm 100% sure Eleven will eventually make it to DSP but we have lost Chrometone, Amp Farm et all and BX Rock Rack looks super interesting to me.

I find amp sims tend to do certain things well and others not so well so having a few choices is a good thing in your DSP PI collection.

I'm really hoping they bring BX Rockrack to DSP.

Regarding XL, DIrk had indicated earlier that it was too big to fit on a TDM chip. Don't know if the technology is different with HDX. They do have a history of adding DSP after the fact. So if it can be done, I'm sure they will.

So here is the reply from Dirk - good news...

"Hi Cliff, we are working on an AAX DSP version right now.
Figure Q4.

We will offer a free upgrade for fresh customers who just bought it / buy it
officially.

Best, Dirk."

Between Brainworx and Softube I feel I have the best stuff available now.

Oh yeah, and some Fabfilter stuff.

I agree Ron re:Softube, and I really like the Bx-XL by Brainworx and am looking forward to the DSP version.

Fabfilter looks like AAX-Native only. HAve you heard any plans of DSP'ing their stuff?

No plans but the their plugs are so intuitive and sound great that I use them AFTER tracking.

When Brainworx has DSP versions we'll all be set!
