levels
My 01v96 is set to output a neg.20 db tone and that sits about 40 percent up the meter. PT has no numbers on its meter (Why Not?) but it comes across about 40 percent up the meters. However if I put a bass direct into the board and play as loud as I can, just before the preamps splat on me, it still only comes across about where the -20 tone was and doesnt end with a good full recording. My 01v96 is connected via ADAT (optical) as well as line in and spdif. It seems to do this more with low freq.s than high. As I understand it, there is no "trim" pot for calibrating the inputs (Why Not?). Is PT doing some compression for me? Any thoughts on this?
