I used it with great success....for 8 months till the actuator arm broke(for no reason), rendering it useless.

2 LaCie D2 drives, a 200GB and an older 120GB.
Can't praise them enough. Sleek, solid and relatively quiet.
Going on 4 years using LaCie, I'm a customer for life.

I've come across a mountain of drives in the past couple of years and have seen lacie drives die a couple of times. BUT... They are very good at replacing them quickly, ....AND they don't die as frequently as some other drives. If your important stuff ain't on 3 drives... you don't have it. I highly recomend their drives. If you hear a clicking sound BACKUP IMMEDIATLY!

I use a d2 SATA 74 GB 10.000 rpm since 2 hrs and it rocks. works perfectly, and right from the beginning, but I can´t tell you for how long, of course...

I have the 160GB D2 extreme, and I have always heard a rhythmic clicking sound from the drive while I am recording. I assumed this to be normal operation. Are you saying it is abnormal?

Thanks
Tony

So I should chain two more drives so that I have three copies of my work?

oh yes! you should always have your data on 3 different disk, that are stored separatedly. You NEVER know! I lost ALL my data once, and since then, I really DO care about backup...
as long as you do a backup everything will work fine, but once you don´t....

Furhtermore, you can chain a dozen drives if you want, but you haven't backed up ***** until it's also stored on some sort of optical device (cd-r, dvd, etc.).
