Default OT: Hey guys need help on a stupid problem :o)

What is the mic level on cheapo multimedia mics?, you know, the ones a typical pc consumer connects to a sound blaster card for example. Is there anyway I can connect one to the digi box for a stupid trick I have to pull (don't ask ), I tried earlier but couldn't get any sound out of it, and the mic, in the "mic in" of a sound blaster card works perfectly.

Sorry for the long stupid post

Hi Gabriel, most of those mics require a dc voltage to work, most are as you may have figured now cheap electret condenser mics, they just require from 1-3v dc to work, I do not have at hand the wiring required to supply the voltage but let me dig into some of my files...

Greetings!

i've got an even more stupid answer.......

Try to connect the listeningpart as mic. That should work too. You'll have to talk into the cans then ofcourse...

Thanks man, the cheapo mic literature (yes it has some, unbelievable! ) says it's operation voltage range is between 1.5-9v. Is just one of those mics you plug into your "mic in" input of a typical sound blaster, how can I make it sound thru the 001 box?

P.S.: The Duc is kind of slow today, maybe everyone is at AES, maybe everyone here leaves in L.A.

Have you tried running your soundcard output into the digi001?

I tried to do the same thing with a mic that I stole from a cell phone HF kit in a car so I could use it as a lapell mike to talk to the vocalists in my booth. I had no luck for the same reasons. If any of you find a diagram that will make this work, please post it, or email me. Some time the exact sound your looking for can only come from a cheap mic.
Thanks
