Default Pro Tools 11

Okay.....so 64Bit and offline bounce, HD video, no more DAE, low latency buffer, new metering, multiple mini meters, dynamic processing.......GREAT!!

But here's what. When PT 9 came out, I rapidly bought the $300 upgrade from PT8 to PT9 like I had done with every previous upgrade.....even though all the others were only $99 or so.

What happens? Not 3 months later...maybe even sooner.....PT10 came out. For yet another $300. I was so pissed it was another $300 that I did not buy it. Until a couple months ago or less. Several weeks.

Now....EFFING PT11 comes out and it is another $300!!!!! They have done it again!!!~!!!

But to upgrade from PT9 to PT 11....according to the Pro Tools Expert blog..... is only $399!!!!! So folks like me......are getting screwed!!! I could have waited and bought PT10 during the amnesty period for $300 rather than the $600 it will cost me. By not having a decent grandfather thing......they are favoring PT9 owners and screwing the rest of us out of $300.

How is this fair Avid? Please explain that to me and others. This is NOT FAIR Avid.

Not to mention the Academic pricing.

Also, I believe CPTK2 is going away. Dropped. But they will let you upgrade to 11 HD for.....$999!!!!!

Just what is going on? It's great they have offered amnesty to PT10 buyers from April 7th until 11 is released at which time it is a FREE UPGRADE. But screw the folks who just bought it. We don't count.

Man...........I am so pissed I can hardly speak. Someone please tell me I have this wrong......that the info at PT Expert Blog is off.

Don't be pissed. Just don't update. Nobody is forcing you to do anything.

I understand that Albee......that there is no pressure to update.

However.....there are many appealing features that I would like to be able to participate in. The news that PT 9 users can buy the upgrade for $200 less than current 10 users.....especially very recent purchasers......is very unsettling. To my mind it is completely unfair.

I don't yet understand the CPTK2 deal.......but if it is as mentioned......how are current CPTK2 users who paid full pop...perhaps recently.....going to feel to find out it is being dropped? And that if they want to be that close to HD....they must pay another $999 to get there. I mean.....I'm not even sure all the features of CPTK are now just included anyway.......but it still bites for people who dropped that much.......... and maybe don't want/can't afford to necessarily go full HD.

It's just not adding up. I know I am knee jerking....but I have seen this before.

I wouldnt update, its wrong. Just complain to your sales rep, he'll complain to his avid rep and itll maybe be resolved. But dont waste the money just yet until you try to get it for free or at least the extra $100 for the 9 to 11 upgrade.

Yeah...I feel the same. Got mine on Feb 27th. If I had had 10 and been using it for a year.....well, okay.....not a big deal. But a month and days?

I'm excited - and I just got PT10 about a month ago - hey Lets look at this another way there are people who are hungry in this world don't have money to eat and we're recording music,

I'm buying it - you don't want to - don't do it

PT10 works great and will for years - make the best of what you got man

Having been here since 6, I have to say, with EVERY upgrade, somebody loses out due to timing. As a company, Avid(or anybody else) has to make some choice as to cutoffs, so no matter what they do, the tick somebody off. While I do feel bad for those that are on the short end of this stick, I also feel bad for the company enduring the ragging because they can't afford to just "give away the farm". I will buy 11 no matter what deal I get as the new features will be killer for me as a "power user". There must be thousands of users out there that don't need the new goodies and those folks can keep on truckin'(I know folks still on 8, 7.x and all the way back to 6.4)
