Default Field Recoder - remove mandatory matches with clip list

This has driven me insane for years. After several months with support, they say "it's a feature", and to be fair it is documented in the manual. It's just bonkers. And apparently the only way forward here is through Ideascale.

When matching Field Recorder guide tracks by timecode only, the user chooses the folder(s) where to search. Fine - except that PT also matches (whether you like it or not) with everything else already in the clip bin. This can be spectacularly debilitating, generating sometimes literally hundreds of false positives on a large project and requiring hours of cleanup.

I can't think of a circumstance where I'd ever want to match it with existing clips. So please please can we get a simple checkbox - "include clips in the clip bin"?!

Grateful for vote ups on Ideascale here - http://protools.ideascale.com/a/dtd/...st/165309-3779 thanks.

I'm afraid this has already been requested some time ago but so far no luck. Don't think it's in PT12.

Has been discussed extensively here:

(Includes some work-arounds too BTW which could solve some things for your scenario)

Thanks Frank, that didn't come up in a search I did. Curiously Avid claim to know nothing about it either (or rather they said I was the first person to raise the issue, which did seem strange as I know its been widely discussed here). After a few months of them reproducing what I was getting, they suggested I start a new Ideascale, and they've put others onto it too. I've thumbed up the old thread, but since they're definitely aware of the new one I'd urge everyone to thumb up this new one too.

I'm not exactly a coder, but I'd have thought this was such an incredibly easy fix programming-wise, and it would save so much aggro for so many people. I do use the workarounds, but it's still a colossal PITA.

Yes, big PITA and that they've never heard about it is crazy. I know a couple of dialogue editors in the UK who have been bugging AVID about this since the field recorder workflow was invented back in PT7 (I think).

I even posted the case number in this posting:

http://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=1999829&postcount=9

A fellow dialog-editor I know has suggested this exact thing about a year ago (ref #01849181) directly to AVID support so maybe they are working on something. But I'm no fortune teller. Maybe the NAMM show update?
('a year ago' referring to 2012!!)

What you write is really depressing and tells a lot....so frustrating. Especially now that they want hundreds of $$/Year for 'support'.
Just because it might be easy to code doesn't mean it's going to be implemented quickly. :roll eyes:

I hope someone will merge your request so the votes aren't split to duplicate requests on IS.

frank.
