Thanks but Southsidemusic is on it. It hasn't been answered with relation to the current promotion/change in pricing.

Quote:
Avid has no idea of the buy date when you buy through a dealer for the boxed product (and there are support plans as boxed product) -- it is only aware of the activation date. This is why this question was asked. In this one case (end of a pricing scheme), Avid could put a lock on activation codes of a series through iLok but there's no wording to indicate that is part of the T&C. |

If I buy the annual plan, can I wait (lets say) 6 months before activating?
If I buy the annual plan, can I wait (lets say) 6 months before activating? which will mean my 1 year period will begin 6 months later, or do I need to activate as soon as I buy this year before 2015 is over?

What I was told by Avid support is, the one year starts the moment you purchase.

I believe it starts when activated not purchased. I recall Jeffro posting this a while back.

Thanks! Yes, it starts from when you activate, not from when you buy.

Re: If I buy the annual plan, can I wait (lets say) 6 months before activating?
I was told the one year support plan starts from the time you purchase the upgrade. You can activate it anytime you want, but the year starts from the time of purchase.
My question to Avid: If I purchase the PT 12 HD support plan for $599, does the one year support start from the day I purchase, or the day I download? Here is the response I received from Avid: The One year support plan will start from the day that you successfully purchase the product. So even if you didn't download the file from your account. You will still get support. Thanks! Regards, (name removed)

A: Your plan is valid for one year from the time you activate your new Pro Tools software. The same applies to Pro Tools users who buy an upgrade and support plan, which also requires activation. Contradicts what Avid's support stated. I would like this information to be correct, for the sake of anyone upgrading and wanting to wait to activate. I hope the person I spoke with is mistaken.
