here's what their website says as of 6/10/02

"6/10/02 We're nearing completion of a version of Auto-Tune 3 for Digidesign's RTAS format for PC. Auto-Tune 3 RTAS PC will bring all the power of Auto-Tune pitch correction to users of 001 and Mbox systems on PC compatible computers. Check back over the next few weeks for announcement of its availability."

I love it...mid june---next few weeks. Now it's august and nothing else. Same thing with BF, no new news.

FWIW - last November (2001) they offered to take my money and ship it to me as soon as it was ready - a few weeks at the most. Suffice it say I declined and continued to use Version 1.

At Digiworld in LA the Antares guy said a few weeks, maybe a month. That was late June/early July I believe.

English J - What type of functionality do you get with version 1? Do you have to process the file in a Direct X environment??

It works like any other RTAS plug in. It is a pretty good memory hog though. I realy don't use it very much but when you need it it's great to have.

You can still get version 1 if you shop around. I saw it at Sam Ash for around $150 a few months back.

I recently read an article about Mirwais Ahmadzai and using Auto Tune on a certain Pop diva's album. I had to use a snibit from the CD - OK Madonna's Music for a project and the vocal effects are really wild. He said he did most of it in Auto Tune...

Quote:
Mirwais loves to mangle audio with hardware, but he has no qualms doing it with software too. "It's very, very complicated, slice by slice," he says of his vocal editing technique. "I put Auto-Tune on individual syllables. Sometimes I use 40 tracks of audio just on one vocal track. Each has a different level and treatment, and then I do a composite. I couldn't do this with a normal analog studio setup."
