Beginers compression question
How do I know, say when using the BF 1176 compressor if I'm setting the dials to a 4:1 compressor setting or 20:1. My friend always talks about never wanting to go above the 10:1 mark but I just dont know what hes talking about when he says this....What do each number of the ratio represent? Is it Gain and threshhold? compared to each other? If I set the Gain too 100 and the threshhold to 25 woudl this be 4:1? THank you....
