Default is a max True Peak of -2.5 or -2.9 ok?

I have been subcontracted to do a re language version for streaming network - like say netflix etc thru another studio.

the specs they supplied stated -24 LKFS ( +/- 2 LKF ) and maintain max peak not to exceed -2dBTP

I have supplied a few mix and they are rejecting them!

- the figures they quoting me are -23.2 LKFS and -2.5 dBTP

- 24.7 LKFS and - 2.9 dBTP

they are rejecting these mixes because I didnt hit -2dBTP?

"Must not exceed" means you mustn't top over -2dBTP. Your numbers are below -2dBTP so you're within the spec.
Not sure why they are rejecting if they allow +/- 2LKFS from the integrated -24.
Better ask them not us?

studio I am working for are not passing it to client.

they are asking that I make sure it hits -2dBTP in the show before passing it on.

the show is mostly talking. occasional action on occasional episode.

I dont see how dialog should be at -2dBTP really?

I have said til I am blue in the face that max level should not exceed -2dBTP

they are reading it as max level should be -2dBTP - no tolerance.

doesnt make sense! is that once per show? no logic!!!!!

That's total bs.
Just make a short event peak at -2dBTP and see if they're happy then.
Since you're already at -2.5dBTP that's just a raise of .5dB at the event that is the loudest in the show. Easy.

Send them here and we'll all tell them what a bunch of f**king r****ds they are for not understanding a simple spec! And yes, if it was my client, I'd probably just say that to their face. I have enough good clients to be able to afford to lose the **** ones.

my FFS meter is of the scale!

I've clipped with on WTF's as well!

I'm on my 3rd set of outputs for some of these shows. cos they initially told me over whats app they wanted the LtRt at -2dB as well - turns out they wanted -12dBFS - I asked them for some guides and they were all peaking at -18dBFs

are you hiring?!

just moved back to the UK - and these are my 'international' clients. did 2 cinema releases for them last year. just doing these on the cheap for them since they needed a hand.

-2 or -12, what difference does 10dB make anyway! I'm afraid I'm not, but you never know!

feeling even more frustrated now!

they asking that the dialog stem also has max peaks of -2 whilst maintaining 24LKFS

is that even possible? I have never had to do that before! sure I manage the loudness range - but having to hit -2dBTP precisely?

asking myself why isnt helping I suppose

honestly the budget for this was bottom dollar. They were lucky I am in between shows else I would have declined.

nope nope they changed their minds again!

dialog whilst having to meet the same 'spec' as the mix- doesnt have to peak at -2dBTP

logic fails - words fail. altho the upside is dont have to mess around with the already outputted too much.

altho having done 8 or 9 eps they just announced that there's a 'coming' up next thats missing from all of them!
