You're connecting the A49 to your computer with USB?

Is the controller set up properly in Audio MIDI Setup?

Have you enabled the controller in Pro Tools (Setup> MIDI> Input Devices)?

I had a similar problem and found at that all I had to do was right click on Pro Tools and check the box next to Login As Administrator. Then when I opened Pro Tools, my A49 began working.

I don't have anything in my Setup > Peripherals. Just under Midi Input Devices. And I have to make sure I login as administrator.

I don't have a Mac so I'm not positive but I think You can look in the Account System Preferences for the checkbox that says "Allow user to administer this computer." Again, not sure about this. To address your earlier question, On my Windows 8.1 machine I didn't have to populate anything under Peripherals, I didn't select HUI or any of the other choices. My A49's two rotary controls still control some of the parameters in PT's virtual instruments.
