Default PT 12HD Perpetual License issue

Take a look at the screen shot and tell me what the hell is going on? Since when is a perpetual license not compatible with any version of protools 12?!!!
Notice I clearly have and own a perpetual HD 12 License and I'm running a version of protools 12HD.. I don't see any documentation stating that the license will not run PT12HD thats beyond my support subscription..


What Kind of BS is this


anyone else experienced this?

There are many hundreds of posts on DUC about this, did you try searching before posting? Avid documented this in release notes etc. starting back in Pro Tools 12.6. Lots of conversation on this an licensing and annual support in general, way back when this was news. Lots of people may not agree with this, but its been pretty widely communicated.

If you have annual update support you just need to upgrade the license on your iLok. If you don't you need to re-up that, ~US$999 but call Sweetwater and see what they can do, or run a version prior to Pro Tools 12.6. And if you are using a DigiLink interface make sure you also read about the DigiLink iLok license requirement as well with Pro Tools 12.6 HD and later, also many post on DUC about that.

I take your point and agree.
My Perpetual License for PT11 is good for all versions of PT11.
My Perpetual License for PT10 is good for all versions of PT10 etc.

Appears that PT12 is no longer a "Perpetual" license, which it was when I first bought it.

Q: When is a Perpetual License no longer Perpetual - and what are the Regal Lamifications?

I agree.. they shouldn't call it a perpetual license I suppose... anyways points well taken and understood.. I suppose im not the only one who doesn't read all these license agreements or understood the implications..

I have a newer license that I can renew for less $$ .. I'll just do that ...
still Bites to be honest... I remember when this was never an issue... times have changed and I guess I just need to get on board or rebel .

The licenses connected to Upgrade Plans have a Release Limit date (check this at the bottom of Show Details for the license bundles in iLok License Manager) and that should correspond to a Plan's end date. They are perpetual in that they never expire (they will continue to run the versions released during a Plan's term).

One of your Plans expired in 2016 so its license can run Pro Tools versions from 10.0-12.6.1. You can reinstate this plan to upgrade your license since it's beyond the 30 day grade period.

Your other Plan expired this month but can run 10.0-12.8.2. You can renew this plan since you are still within the 30 day grace period.

See this KB article for info about the Release Limit and the dialog you are seeing.
