Avid guys are unbelievable. They don't give a s... about us. They do not respond to mails or to this thread anymore. They have decided to stop supporting Fast Track Ultra 8R, despite their official note for support till 2018. My lawyer wife has already strarted legal procedures to sue them. I don't know if anything will come up, but what the h... Time is up and we should not let these guys keep on playing arround with people who are foolish enough to "fund" them... I'm willing to go all the way, cause I'm pretty p... off!!! By the way, I've ordered a Focusrite Clarett 8PreX and I'll use my 400€ Fast Track Ulta 8R as a decoration item in my studio...

I have de same problem with my Fast Track Ultra and Avid's Support Team said to de next: Make a downgrade from El Capitan.

Downgrade from El Capitan isn't a solution, I don't want to do this. I want to use ma audio interface and i need to work.

An FYI, the end of support dates are how long Avid will supply parts and repair services, not how long driver updates will be released.

Joel, I told you before: this is an interpretation of "support". My interpretation of support is to provide drivers for your USB interfaces and not let your customers face issues that force them to delay their OS updates or to spend money for new (not Avid of course) interfaces with fresh drivers for ever!!! And I also told you before: TASCAM has one month now released El Capitan drivers for its long now discontinued little US-200 audio interface, because it's a working and not a ghost (like Avid) company!!! Get to work or go home!!! Period!!!

They have just updated the driver page with very bad news for the Fast Track Ultra.

This is the final driver release for the Fast Track Ultra
Qualified with Mac OS X 10.8.5, 10.9.5, 10.10, 10.10.1
Note that Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan (or later) is not compatible and will not be qualified"

awesome. I'm kinda bummed. It's actually a pretty decent interface. Might put a Yosemite partition on my MBP just so I can still use it.

That is very bad news. While I agree that the word 'support' is open to interpretation, what support do they need to provide if the unit no longer works with an up-to-date operating system on what I assume is their major platform? Not much.

The consensus seems to be Focusrite as the best USB unit out there? Looking at the 18i8 to get four mic pres. Thanks.
