i7 3.2 GHz, 24 GB Ram, PT 10 CPTK

The installation was just as on a normal Mac and everything runs a lot better than on my Quadcore 2.66 Late 2009.

SSL MADI Extreme - working
UAD 2 - working
BMD Intensity Pro - working

All Softube and PSP Plug Ins, Massey Waves and Audioease stuff - working

And everything really fast. Could not make PT crash. Not even with the
make it crash session from protoolsprofessional.com

will keep you updated, if you like.

It is a gigabyte board with ATI 5770 graphics.

Can post some more info if asked for.

I'm not in any connection to the company. This is no commercial. I am just happy.

Was pretty unhappy with my last 2 MacPro's

Each of them lasted nearly exactly 2 years before becoming extremely buggy and unreliable without changing anything. Hope this on will keep me happy a little bit longer. At least my bank account is happy, for it was way cheaper than a new MacPro.

Cheers

Sebastian
Thanks for posting.

What is the company you ordered from? Do they have a website?
Also could you give the specific model of the gigabyte mother board used for you build?

Do you have a specific link for the "make it crash session from protoolsprofessional.com" you speak of?

Did not find it there.

Thanks

Ok just finished this, 9.0.5, 003 and video all work.

Not an HD PCI Rig but a Rig none the less.

Geekbench Score is 13470.

Question Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

Hi all,

Just wondering has anyone this running with PTHD10, PCIX HD4 and Lion?
192I/O Interfaces?

I am thinking of upgrading my G5s but will definitely keep the PCI-X Cards.

Cheers!

hi,

just want you guys let to know that there is a great site for DAW machines out there:

http://hd-recording.at/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=daw

This is project is aimed to build a reference system with favored- most recommended compatible and certified components not only for a Digital Audio Workstation,…
following criteria have been respected:

- OS X compliant (community recommended setup for smooth osx installation)
- Performance (x58 motherboard, i7 quadcore cpu,… )
- Noise (extra special silent components: case, cpu cooler, graphic card, power supply)
- Cooling (special high quality cooling performance: case, cpu cooler gpu cooler)
- Compatibility (compliant chipsets, eg. motherboard, pcie firewire card )

I've spent a lot of time researching the components for this system, especially to be osx compliant and certified to most audio devices (AVID/Digidesign/M-audio, RME, MOTU, Metric Halo, TC, Presonus, … )

http://hd-recording.at/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=daw

good luck,
nean

You're the man! Thank you... I built the machine, handed it off to the owner of the studio and, I come to find out later that he installed a bunch of cracked software on the machine. I told them to do it legit and problem solved... thank you.

Any ideas? Power management is all turned off ( i.e all the flags to allow the computer to power of idle USB devices...)
I'm running a chain of about 3 to 5 usb repeaters a total of 30 ft or so from the machine. At the other end is a usb hub that connects the keyboard, mouse, and a few other small devices (i.e. ilok, kensington dial, etc.)

HACKINTOSH > USB 2.0 PORT > USB REPEATER CABLE > USB REPEATER CABLE > USB REPEATER CABLE > BELKIN POWERED 7 PORT USB HUB > MOUSE/KEYBOARD, ETC.

The keyboard and mouse work but keep dropping out, and its as if they're not getting enough power... even though the usb hub is powered. Is there anything that can be done about this? When I swap the hackintosh (jetway board) for a Mac Pro G5, there's no more problem with any usb devices dropping out, even at the long distance.

Is it an issue with this board? Are the g5 pro usb ports stronger or have a higher voltage or something?

Sounds like it could be a problem similar to one you're having, lennieh.... let me know if you've had any luck
