Default Slaves

Hello!

I seem to be close to outgrowing the 16GB RAM in the mac Mini.

1) When I upgrade, possibly to the iMac Pro, would the Mini, complete with internal SSDs, be adequate as a slave, to run VSL string, woodwind and brass libraries?

2) I'm thinking of a fairly "fat" iMac Pro; 8-core, 64GB RAM, 1TB SSD system drive, two external SSDs. Would I still need a slave to run the VSL stuff?

Thanx!

While you wouldn't absolutely need the Mini with the iMac it would be a killer fast system. Especially if the samples feeding the Mini are on an ssd. The fellow that does the demo videos over on the VSL site has ssd's in his system and it's blink of the eye fast. Saw that watching a video for the VI Pro sample player.

Something to keep in mind about VEPro is if it's not used on a regular basis it's possible to not remember exactly how one figured out certain operations. That's not a fault of the program it's basic human nature. Being it's not easy to pick up one has to spend time and get in ingrained in one's brain. I.E. keep repeating something and it becomes second nature. Sort of like using keyboard shortcuts in PT
