Default Midi Timeclock - Latency

So I’ve always assumed This happens behind the scenes and is flawless but....

How Is the midi via USB sync’d to pro tools?

Is there latency somewhere ?

Would a Midi timepiece with word clock - sync with pro tools, better?

By better I mean closer or less latency with pro tools ?

Am I splitting hairs here?

Default Re: Midi Timeclock - Latency

Nothing I'd worry about. Never used MIDI direct via USB but through my MOTU MIDI Timepiece AVUSB (is that what you're talking about?) with the only real latency coming via audio through the a/d converters. There is supposedly some MIDI latency in PT but have never verified that.
