Default xeon 3 GHz 512 kb cache or dual core 3 GHz?

Hi! Normally i would say XEON ofcourse....but, this xeon cpu if FSB 533 and has 512kb cache....604 pins......is the old xeon still good or is the duo core better....ofcourse i wish i could get a dual core xeon....but, that's not the case....any inputs?

Dual core trumps single core. Is there a reason to NOT go AMD? The AMD x2 4400 and 4800 are solid performers at a very fair price(now, too bad I paid double 6 months ago).

i prefer intel cpu...i've been using intel since 1987....But, is xeon still better than dual core home pc cpu? or has home pc cpu's passed the the xeon with one core?

Dual Core AMD and Intel technology has exceeded single core Xeon processors. The Core 2 Duo Intels look to be the most promising right now for the money with the AMD Quads still leading the pack. I I were you I'd look into a Core 2 Duo right now and check out the last posts on the Best Desktop thread above.
