Neatguys,
Were there any issues with installing the Zalman fan with this mobile AMD 64 processor? A few of the guys in here are having problems with the fan /heatsink fitting properly.

Thanks,
Allen
I kinda manipulated mine to make contact with the processor. It was rocking to much at first.
Now i am worried.Everything works fine but I am gonna remount it or bring it in and have someone do it.I might get a stock fan til someone here figures out the right way to mount it to the k8vse dlx board.I dont want to screw up my new pc!!!
Especially after gettin 32+26 at 128 24 bit!!!
Whats the best way to remove the arctic silver I bought for it?

Hi Allen,

I appreciate your post on what to buy as I'm currently upgrading my AMD Athlon 1.4GHz, 256MB DDR RAM to use with my Digi002Rack. I'm curious looking at your page 1 post that its from 2002... Is the list out of date? Is there anything other that we should be buying?

Thanks Allen, just deciding to buy the 002 Rack was an obstacle. There's always a next obstacle to encounter.

Take care,
Brad

Hey Allen,

Here is my experience with installing a Zalman fan.

I just installed my Zalman 7700cu onto a K8V-SE Deluxe on the weekend and got mine to fit great. At first I wasn't sure whether to use the backing plate that came with the Mobo (the metal one) or the one that came with the fan (black plastic one for 754 chipset). The screws that came with the fan did not thread with the mobo backing plate. It seemed that the metal backing plate was glued to the mobo really well and that we would have to use it. After some gentle manipulation, the metal backing plate popped right off.

Getting the fan screwed on properly was a little tricky but fit just fine. Everything is stable and whoa!!!! this thing is quiet (and huge ).

I followed this flash video that you can get from the Zalman website. Hope that link works, I can't check it right now.

Cheers,
blizzard

Hey Neatguys,

See my post above about the Zalman fan. No real problems here. I also had to remove some Artic Silver from my processor before mounting and I used some "isopropyl alcohol" and cotton swabs and it cleaned it up great. Just make sure it is completely dissolved before remounting.

Cheers,
blizzard
