TDM Flex Error
System:
MAC G5 Dual 2.3 1.5 Gigs Ram Tiger - 10.4.2 PT HD3 system PT 6.9.2 CS2 Bug: Every time I make any kind of a change to my Plug-Ins folder my system reports a TDM Flex Cable error. Details: These changes include: A) Adding a plug-in B) Updating a plug-in C) Updating the PT Code (ie CS or other PT Updates) Error: TDM Flex Cable Error Also note: If I run Digi Test when it reports this error condition is does not show my 3rd PT Card in the slot on my G5. Specifically, My cards are HD Core, HD Process, HD Process. DigiTest only sees 2 cards in this condition. Solution (Not a good one but it does seem to work) - Trash DAE Prefs, DigiSetup and PT Prefs and restart. I was surprised that I also have to trash the PT Prefs but that is in fact the case. If I don't I still get the error. Theory: A) I got my HD system as a beta tester. Therefore, I have the very first generation of HD cards. B) The last PCI slot on the new Mac G5s is of a different type than the other 2. Maybe there is an incompatibility between the original HD cards and the latest Macs? Do I need to have my cards updated? Note, My system does run fine when it runs. In other words, I don't think there is any kind of TDM Flex Cable problem. This same system ran for years without incident in my G4 933. |

Re: TDM Flex Error
There seems to be a few errors similar to this cropping up - there is another thread somewhere.
I get this occasionally too - I have to run DiskWarrior and then Applejack to get it all back (I also get a Hardware undetected error with this). I don't trash prefs etc. - in fact trashing prefs etc doesn't work for me in this instance nor does taking the system apart and rebuilding/reseating cards etc. It is inconsistent and I can't say what it is that brings it on as yet. New sessions imported with NI stuff on them? I am on Tiger 10.4.2 PT 6.9.2cs2 (but I have had this since Tiger - never on Panther), HD3 Accel with 192IO G5 2.7 with 4GB Ram My HD core will be early revision too i think - Core card certainly - I can't say re the two Accel boards as they were upgraded from my original HD set-up but I got one of them as soon as Accel came out. Likewise my system runs fine when it does run (apart from the obv NI issues!) |

Re: TDM Flex Error
Before I go though what I did to fix the flex questions, do you have the latest firmware available for all your gear, Computer, DVD-r drive, Digi stuff, interface, sync. FW drives etc. etc. Here's what I did to fix the problem. First do all the normal stuff, repair, trash... No close your Mac. Shut it down. Disconnect all cables, open. Remove all cards, reverse the order of your Accel cards re attach your flex cables, reset the Apple master reset button, very small button on the mother boards. Close, reboot, Zap your Phee ram, repair permissions, De install Digi software, Make sure you copy your plugins folder and their presets. Reinstall Protocols re-boot, and then repair permissions again. Re that's it, run digitest. Check Firmware, I'll say it again, check your firmware versions.

Re: TDM Flex Error
Thanks Kirk and Bo,
Andbody know if there are firmware updates for the HD cards themselves? If so, how does one check the rev and how does one flash them? -Mike |

Re: TDM Flex Error
When you run digi test, there is a tab for firmware, check it and run the test on your Accel card # 1 first. it will tell you the firmware version. Then check the Digi data base!!

Re: TDM Flex Error
I also get a intermitent error 1123 "check Flex cable connection". I have found if i then shut down the G5 not restart but shut down and reboot pro tools launches without error 1123. I dont like this. I to have pulled cards reseated flex cables etc. But still get intermitent error1123. With these same cards and flex cables in my G4 867 single i never had this problem. I have a question? How far down should the hd cards seat into the pci slots in the G5. I always feel they should bottom out so to speak but never seem to. G5 2,0 2gigs apple ram HD accel 3 192 and 2 digi fire drives. I miss my G4's reliability.

Re: TDM Flex Error and Token Byte
I'm seeing the Flex Cable error along with token byte erros as well. Restarting seems to be the only thing that gets me past them...
