Default A Timeout occurred interacting with an audio interface ERROR

HD Native Card with MADI interface, running PT 11.3.2 on a Mac, High Sierra.

Before this started happening, I've never had hardware problems ever.

I've seen only one other case of this on the board.

Pro Tools will be going along, and then I get the error.

"A Timeout occurred interacting with an audio interface"

I can't then quit protools, I have to force quit it, and then if I try to restart it, it it won't start up or it will start and I get an -1173 firmware error in the second picture.

If I restart the whole computer, it resolves for a while, then might do it again. Today it did it three times.

It may also do it when screen sharing, but I can't confirm that would be the cause.

I've updated the firmware for the MADI, and tested the Card with Digitest, and the card passes, after the reboot, but not right after it shows the timeout error. At that point it doesn't work and it gives an -1173 error too.

It should not be doing this. The only thing I've seen is reseating the digilink cables, and then one guy replaced his cables and that solved the problem.

Has anyone else had this error, and if so, what resolved it?

Any speculation if it's the HD Native Card, the MADI, the cables, a combo of them?

Thanks in advance.

Default Re: A Timeout occurred interacting with an audio interface ERROR

And the answer is......

The PCI slots went bad.

I borrowed another HD Native card from a friend. When I put it in my computer, the Pro Tools would not even see the card and would give me a -1173 error immediately. I took it out, put it in other computer, and my problems went away.
Then I put my HD Native card in the other computer, and again, not problems.

I then took a USB 3.0 PCIe card out of the suspect system, and Protools did see the borrowed HD Native card, so I thought it might be the USB card causing the problems, but nope, I got the error again.

I swapped out computers and am sending the other computer to repair.

Sorry to hear that but glad you found out the culprit
