I had one of theese ,sounded great waaaaayy better than my 003 or 002,more inputs/outputs,2 luqid pres.Awesome interface. If I wasnt using a HD1 system with PT8 HD I would still use it,the mix buss and overall stability of HD systems in general is much better.PT le definately sounded better with the focusrite converters in my humble opionon.

There are already a lot of threads about this interface... but I have one and it is great.

Definitely better than the 003R in every way.

Works smoothly with PT9 and 10. All the I/O you could ask for in one box, plus some very nice features. Hard to beat it for the price.

Dism what made you get it? what other interfaces did you look at before you? comparatively speaking, is it on par with a symphony or RME UFX or even HD native with an omni interface? thanks.

EGS I have the exact PC as you except I only have 6gb of ram. I just bought a Saffire pro 40 for my Imac but i am thinking about getting a LS56 or new Steinberg UR824 for my PC. Does the 12GB of ram make a difference in power? what kind of latency are you getting on the LS56?

PTools dosen't really use all that RAM (maybe in future versions?) so no, not really an increase in power due to lots of RAM. It does help with some other apps though, like Sony Vegas. I'm running the LS56 at a buffer of 64, and latency is not an issue for me.

The selling point for me was versatility. 28 I/O in one box is great, and there are a lot of flexible features.

I doubt it compares to a Symphony or an Omni, though, as far as sound quality... But we're also talking extremely different price points. It's a huge step up from an 003, and it certainly has more I/O than many boxes, but it is a $1000 FW interface. If there was something from Focusrite to compare to Omni or Symphony it would be more along the lines of the RedNet products.
