Default TCE in maximum quality

Hi all

I want to use TCE tool to conform my audio file to my grid so i decided to use TCE.

Now question:

Considering i want maximum quality for time expansion, what is the best solution for me ? Do i need to change settings in TCE ? Or should i avoid TCE and use x-form ? If i have to use x-form , is the process to conform my part to my grid as easily as TCE allow me to do ?

Thanx all

You need to set a up a choice of TCE engine in the Preferences.

The 'default' one in my experience is not very good - meaning that there will be artefacts when doing time/tempo stretching of any significance.

However, if you own one of these:

• Waves Soundshifter
• SoundToys Speed
• Serato Pitch n' Time
• Avid XForm

Then you can select one of those in the preferences and that will become your new default TCE (unless you trash prefs, then you'll have to select again).

Running Elastic Time or using TCE tool without having one of the above set as the TCE Engine will be a miserable experience......

Hello montreal,

It's kind of hard to answer, really. JazzyJ gave you some good tips.

IMO, it depends very much on the material. Personally, I almost always opt for using elastic time because it works for me.

Good luck.
