Default Optimizing S6 Config

Hello guys,

Are there any ways to optimize things in my config to make the console (network, settings, etc.) more responsive ?
My Session contains 350 tracks, okay, but tracks are taking time to populate the whole surface (32 faders in like 1,5-2 seconds) while you switch between layouts.
I only have 8 layouts.
When you change automation modes of all tracks buy pressing key ALT+ the F button, it takes approximately the same time (long).
Closing sessions is very long too, like 3-4 minutes.

The S6 is in DHCP, the workstations (2 Protools) too.
They all are on a dedicated network.

Number of strips in layouts is set to 40.
Number of Knobs per plugins is set to 100.

The S6 is a 32 Faders, 9 knobs, M40, Version 3.6.1.
The mixing workstation is a HDx 3 under Protools 12.7.1.
The recording workstation is a HDx 1 under protools 12.7.1 too.

Thanks !

Things to check:

The network cards in the WS are running at 1G not 100mb
The network cables from the WS go straight to the S6 if possible not through another switch.
The WS are not running out of memory or CPU

Let me know if this is all OK and I can time our system with that config on Monday and see if its the same or faster. Eddie

Eddie,

I'm OK with all these lines.

The only thing is that i use the network dedicated to the S6 for the satellite locking too, but with only two Ethernet interfaces, it's more convenient to use one ethernet for the S6/Satellite and the other for internet …

So would you like me to send you the sessions ?

Thank you very much.

And one more question :

Would the console be more responsive if i set all the S6/Satellite network over static IP ?

Running Satellite on the EUCON network is supported so no problem there. Dynamic or static IP address have no bearing on this as these are only used on boot up.
I did some tests here and we see the same 1-1.5 seconds to load a Layout on larger sessions. We are always looking at ways to speed up the surface but every time we add a new feature it complicates things, its an endless cycle. For v3.7 we have sped up WS switching by 500% ! so next we'll look at Layout load times.

Great !

Thank you very much Eddie.

I understand that it's hard to get the console and the soft evolving and keeping it fast …

But coming from ICONs, it's hard to tell the mixers that this new product contains many new great features but is slower than the old one …

That said, thank you very much for listening the users !

I understand, I actually pulled up the investigation for the Layout speed above a feature, as I agree performance and reliability are #1
