Just to reply to some of the responses here:

I just installed 2 24 fader S6's in December and upgraded to new Mac Pro's in both my audio rooms so PT11 is a necessity. We ran BlackMagic cards in our previous machines but we've just moved to the AJA cards because of the multitude of BM problems. One thing to bear in mind is that some of us work in corporate environments where getting the cash to make big updates like these is a long, hard slog of business cases, meetings, proposals, etc. If the corporate folks approve upwards of $200k to upgrade the audio rooms, they certainly don't want to hear that they don't work or need more money to buy new cards, etc. just to get them to do what they did before without problems. So nobody is jumping on any bandwagon too early.

PS: I'm still having all the same problems as when I wrote the original post.

Yeah, did my big upgrade this year. I luckily have a small enough room I also ran an extra DVI cable to my client monitor for backup. I've uninstalled the BM card I have for now, Its unworkable, way too slow. The desktop video is working great for me.

Running 11.3.1 with AJA IOXT on 10.8.5. Very reliable and stable and FAST, video response.. I haven't had the need to launch PT 10 in over a year.

Do people get the same problems with AJA cards?
I'm pointing the finger straight at AVID. I'm using no video cards, just PT 11 on both a MacBook Pro and new 2014 Mac Pro. All supported, all installed correctly. STILL having AVE errors on both machines. Never had issues with PT 10.

Do I really need another vendor's video card to get AVE to work correctly?

I started working on a PT11.3.0 rig with an Avid NITRIS for video. Previously on PT10.3.9 with BlackMagic. Sync is way better and video DNxHD145 looks great. I sometimes have to convert the video to Avid DNxHD codec from other formats, but it always works. Video drive is a FibreChannel SAN. Mac Pro 12core (cheese grater) with 64GB RAM. Avid MC Control or System5MC (depending on room).

Hi folks, try putting video in "Draft" quality mode. In 10 bit, my rig got hung up when nudging clips, not so in Draft. Using Aja IO 4k, 11.3.1 HD Native rig on trashcan.

This cracks me up... this guy is basically running the top of the line audio rig available at this moment and he cant even nudge clips without hanging up???

meanwhile I see video editors cutting 4K multicam stuff all day on cheese grater mac pros all day with a blackmagic card and theres no stutter for them, even in media composer which theoretically is the same video engine we are using.

Our second room has been running PT11.2 with MojoDX and has had practically none of the issues that are frequent complaints around here. Win7 (specs in my profile). During the past 18 months all of our work has been 60 to 120 minute shows, nearly always DNx145 video, playing from a dedicated stripped pair of drives. Flawless sync, snappy and reliable, feels smoother than my PT10+MC satellite mix rig. The PC recently received 11.3 update and it is still working fine.

So is it the evil Avid, or poor BM/AJA drivers, or underpowered video storage, or Apple?

edit: also we see absolutely no difference in performance whether video output is 10 bit, 8 bit, draft mode, whatever. It just works.

Nothing wrong with my AJA drivers.
You are the second person recently telling me win is better at video.....food for thought.
I have both options with my PTPC
