Help! What is a 32-bit Float Mix ?????

I'm working with PTLE 7.4 and I'm sending a mix out which is at 24/44.1 for mastering.The mastering house is asking for a 32-bit float mix (vs. 24 or 16). I know ProTools records internally a 32bit but I never heard of a 32-bit float mix . I normally keep the mixes at 24/44.1 for mastering.
The mastering house says noticed significant improvements in sound quality with 32-bit float mixes.

Does anyone know how to go about doing a 32-bit float mix with PT7.4 LE? Any help on this would be greatly appreicated.......

You can't. Pro Tools cannot do 32-bit float files. Your mastering house is full o' crap, especially if this project is ending up at 16/44.1.

It does seem very weird that any respectable mastering house would not be able to take 24 or 16 bit files. Hmmm.

Seriously, Sample rate conversion is one of the things any ME should be able to handle..and asking you to do it is strange.

I've heard 32 bit float references to cubase.

At the end of the day if it's in 24/44.1 then thats it, no conversion is going to make it sound better. It is what it is???

If your on the lookout for mastering then check out Tom's site above, i haven't dealt with him personally but at $75 for an e-master is has to be worth a punt.

Any "Mastering House" that does not know that Pro Tools doesn't do 32 bit files is not anyplace worth going to.

32 bit float means the math in the computing not an export file format.
Sonar, Cubase, Magic Samplitude spec that they use 32bit floating point

They are not asking for a 32bit file

They are asking for audio software that uses this math, WHY!

Sorry to expose the error Bender, but there is such a thing as a 32-bit IEEE float wav file.

Pro Tools LE also uses 32-bit floating point notation, but can neither import nor export 32-bit float files.
