mix core and farm cards

Hi i am very new to digidesign and protools i just bought a mix core card ..a mix farm card (rev a) and another mix farm card (rev b) my question is firstly will they run together being diff revisions ?? also i have have just bought a mac g4 dual 867 mhz 1 gig ram.... running osx 10.5 will this be ok to run the cards .... and finaly i need to buy the protools software for these cards which i think is 6.4 tdm ?? where can i buy the software as i would like to be able to keep upto date many thanks i hope you can help put me in the right direction :)

First of all welcome, you'll need to downgrade to 10.3.9 as that's the latest version of OSX that will work.

You can't run these cards on a G5...I have tried, even if you have an older G5 that you can load osx 10.3.9 onto, it still wont work because of pci bus errors and voltage differences. TRUST ME ON THIS...

You will be able to run them in your g4 with osx10.3.9 but if you don't wat to do that then I cna buy them off of you...

This is gonna sound stupid i know .... i just bought the digidesign software installed all started fine then it asked me for a interface ie..888/20 etc which i dont hve is there a way round this so i can use the cards just for mixing ???and most importantly do a digi test on my cards i dont want the interfaces ?? thanks

Yes you need an interface, or you won't be able to hear what you are mixing, the cheapest is to use an Avid 888 which gives you 8 in and 8 out, just do a search on ebay as they are going for silly prices now, I actually managed to get one for 99p with £10 postage.

OK i have just won a 882 on ebay but it has no cable will any digilink cable connect them both together ?? the core to the 882 that is lol many thanks :)

cheers m8 :) can i just ask 1 more qustion is it possible to run the digitest without the interface connected or will i get errors or failed ?

I think you get errors and fails.
