Default M-Powered stucks as a process in XP and does not start

Hi,

I have a problem with M-Powered 7.4 on an XP System.
Before this week everything was fine (Using a Dualcore with M-Audio Projectmix I/O)
Now, if I start PT the system is shortly loading, but not starting the program.
When looking at task manager m-powered is displayed as a process, stucking at 30mb memory usage and 50% CPU usage. But there is no PT application running.

I really did nearly everything to fix this.
Un- /Reinstalled the whole program, with all hidden folders.
Un- /Reinstalled all Plugins
Update ilok Drivers
Update M-Audio Drivers

nohing changes.

Did anyone has a clou about that issue?
Maybe something is blocking PT?
I really need PT nearly every day.

Thanks

Bastian

hay man i think i have a solution for you. I noticed this happening to me but strangly enough i found its is running fine after all.

i got around it like this

Click Alt+tab (Allows you to skip through open alpplications) and you should find the protools icon as one of the open applications. Just keep pressing tab till protools is highlighted then let go of both buttons. it should apear again.

Let helped me anyway and it seems like it maybe the same fault. Very strange

why are you running memory that is not in "pairs".

doing so can lead to weird results.

i would start with that first, remove one memory stick, and just run a pair of them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

make sure you are using a digidesign approved firewire card (built-in motherboard firewire is not sufficient).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

try to remove the SCSIVAX DVD/CD-ROM SCSI CdRom Device

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FireWire Connections

A 1394 ("FireWire") controller/interface is required to connect an M-Audio FireWire interface to your computer. Some computers have built-in 1394/FireWire controllers, while other computers require an add-in 1394/FireWire controller card (purchased separately)

Some built-in 1394/FireWire ports may be incompatible with Pro Tools. if you experience FireWire-related issues or errors when using the built-in 1394/FireWire ports on your computer, Digidesign recommends installing a Digidesign-Qualified 1394/FireWire card.

The following PCI FireWire/1394 Controller PCI cards have been qualified by Digidesign for use with FireWire hard drives and M-Audio FireWire peripherals with Pro Tools M-Powered software:

ADS PYRO PCI 64
- Part Number: API-311
- Bus type: 64-bit PCI

SIIG 1394 3-port PCI i/e
- Part Number: NN-440012
- Model Number: NN2608
- Bus type: 32-bit PCI

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

if you want REAL help, then post SANDRA info (so we can see more detailed info).

I had a similar issue upgrading from 7.1 to 7.4
At first audio was stuttering, then PT would get stuck at "DAE Loaded" every time I tried to open it.
I used the m-audio setup (MP_WDM_5.10.00.3516.exe) to remove the m-audio software and drivers, ran it again to re-install, and now PT7.4 works like a charm.
Hope it works for you.

Same thing here. Actually, I think I had the issue during 7.1, 7.3.1, and when I did the 7.4 upgrade. Since I had the problem before, when I got it twice in a row on 7.4, I knew to re-install the driver and was back up in about 15 minutes.

bseelbach... create a new login and try running pro tools from there. This may fix your problem.

It won't, however, permanently fix your problem. See my post here for details on how this is a consistent, on-going problem that digidesign needs to fix.
