Default CYMBAL samples? ? ?

I'm looking for cymbal samples--high quality, stereo.

I need a wide selection of cymbals: rolls with mallets, crashes, etc for use in pop and r&b PT productions.

Any suggestions?

i've been wondering this also. i have a ton of AKAI samples that are all useful in various sessions.
i have the hardest time getting good hihats and ride cymbals. most samples are to dark sounding with too much attack- often times to overbearing and just not usable.

why use stereo samples?

someone in here posted this link
ftp://ftp.akaipro.co.jp/downloads/so...s/S5000-S6000/

i have dl them and the drum collection is cool , ... hard to say if its really high quality , but the samples are pretty good .
dont ask me which volume the drums are ???
slipped my mind
for a production i would either record some cymbals , that will always sound better , cause it catches the song you are working on .

mayB that helps ???

there aren't very many cymbal samples on Clearmountain. great samples for some things, yet too clean and neat, recorded digitally.
i've heard that DrumKitFromHell is pretty nice.

Not to go off topic too much here, as I do a lot of drum machine work (proteus, MPC2000XL, D4, etc).

If your situation allows it, blend in real cymbals and hi-hats with your drum machine. Try to use less drum machine cymbals. I cut the low end on the real cymbals and sometimes put a slight room on them. Compress them too.

Same thing with Eggs and Tamborines and noisemakers of all types. It makes a huge difference for me. I'll pan the hat left and the egg right, or run the egg up the middle, change it to tamborine when the chorus hits, etc.

Most cymbal samples (esp Akai) decay too quickly or sound lo-fi.

There must be something better out there.

Any ideas?

**shameless plug alert**

Have you heard the Peter Erskine - Living Drums! or the Mark Walker - Latin Drums? You can audition at www.sampleheads.com

We recorde Peter's cymbals @ Ocean Way (LA) with unusually long decay times... for samples. Same with Mark... recorded at Right Track (NYC) studio B (Neve Capricorn) 24bit to PT... then Waves IDR to 16bit for most sample platforms.

In my opinion, these two collections have some of the best cymbals out there.

**end shamelss plug**

Sampleheads, thanks for the tip. I went to the site and listened. Didn't hear any cymbal rolls with mallets. Are mallets included on either Erskine's or Walker's disc?

BTW, just an opinion, Sampleheads, but I'd prefer to hear less talking during the demos. Walker, for example, talks non-stop throughout the Latin Drums demo. I'm interested in samples--not in voiceovers.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Any other leads on cymbal samples will be appreciated.
