Default New version of Avid Link

.....and it's just as fabulous as the old versions.

Whilst contemplating my upcoming support renewal cost, I spotted that there's a new version of AvidLink 21.2.0 - so I was hoping for some improvement. But there's none - still some 1990's single-threaded program launch that takes for ever, followed by complete failure to sign in. Just an error. Repeatedly.

Just venting really..........

Any resources allocated to developing Link would be better spent on literally anything else. Marketing, even. What a waste.

Yup, I normally do, but I thought it was interesting to see what they'd done with it. And the answer seems to be - nothing good.

Well, it still loads like it was written last century, and it still takes 470+MB of memory, and AvidAppManHelper takes another 470MB. It's profoundly amateur programming.

Yup. The first thing I do every time I install a Pro Tools update is run the uninstallers for Avid Link and the Cloud Services.

Just a reminder about the genius integration of Avid Link. Here is a diagram I created that shows the various commands and where they are located on the Avid Link app and inside Pro Tools.

It's a test for new programmers. If they can further bloat Link without making it any more useful, they get to work on PT itself. Just a theory.
