Re: External eSATA?
I have also had problems with the Newer Tech adaptor. It looks as if the eSATA sockets on the back plate don't always mate snuggly with eSATA cables and a bit of vibration or a small knock can cause a loss of communication with connected eSATA drives and then a computer hang.
We have stopped using it, which is sad as the speeds obtained were impressive, but too big a risk to be on a big session. What I would really like to find would be a right angled SATA (to connect to the motherboard sockets under the fan mounting - has to be right angled to fit) to an eSATA connector with a cable about a meter long so that the motherboard SATA can connect directly to an external drive without using an intermediate connector panel. These don't seem to exist. |
