Default Mbox2 Pro as default output on OS X

I have my MBox2 Pro set up as the default output on OS X 10.5.3 in the Audio MIDI setup.

Sometimes when I am playing back audio from Quicktime, or iTunes, the audio drops out, I have to start the track again, or sometimes close the application to get the sound to come out through the MBox again.

Is this a problem with the MBox and Core Audio? I dont have any problems with it in Logic.
