distancing your subject
can someone give me pointers on how to create the impression that something is far away, distant in a big hall when you're source material was close mic'd.
Sa for example you want a wailing voice to sound like it is 20 metres away from the listener. Pre delay, vand reverb length help but I still can't seem to maske the original track sound anything else than right in your face although somewhat quieter. Thanks for your help cheers Rob |

Re: distancing your subject
You could try a gentle bass rolloff starting about 200-300hz. It will help reverse the proximity effect of the mic. You may also have to roll off some of the highs. If you try to imagine which frequences won't carry any great distance, that will help "audiolize" it (vs "visualize").
